My Skincare Routine

Hey y'all! So one of my resolutions for this new year was to take care of my skin more. I'm getting older, and I know, early 20's isn't that old, but I want to start a routine now that I will carry on with me as I get older!

Growing up, I've never had anything close to perfect skin. In middle school, my skin was pretty oily and I struggled pretty badly with acne. I still get the occasional spot, but thank goodness my skin has gotten better as I've gotten older. In order to aid with this process, I've also tried and altered my skincare routine over the past few years in order to find what's best for me. One thing I've learned over the years is that just because a certain routine is popular, or there's a hot new product out that everyone's raving about, doesn't always mean it's right for you and your skin tone.

I've finally gotten to the place where I have a pretty good skincare routine that doesn't take a lot of time and really helps my skin, I can honestly see a difference if I don't stick to my routine! I know you're probably looking at the picture above thinking "I know there's no way one person uses that many products in a day." Trust me, I don't at all! I just wanted to make sure you all had a good idea of what I use on a typical day, and also what I use less often, on a weekly or monthly basis.

Morning

When I wake up in the morning, I always start my day by washing my face with Clean and Clear Morning Burst cleanser. Y'all, I love this stuff. I feel so much more awake and ready to take on the day after using this face wash, and it makes my skin feel so soft! After I wash my face, I use Equate Daily Facial Moisturizer before I put on any of my makeup. I've tried a lot of different moisturizers, and I've always had problems with my face feeling oily, but this moisturizer doesn't increase oiliness at all. It also has an SPF, which I'm always a huge fan of. After moisturizer, I stick to a pretty simple daily routine. I just use IT CC Cream with 50 SPF and some mascara, and I'm ready to go! I really like to keep my routine simple because I don't like feeling like my face is caked with makeup, and I also really like the extra sleep.

Night

After I get home from work or running, I am always more than ready to take my makeup off. I'll take my makeup off with either homemade soap my mom and I made, or Noxzema if I have a full face of makeup on. After all my makeup is off, I use my Clarisonic Mia with the Refreshing Gel Cleanser to just really make sure my face is clean. I don't know if you all have one of these, or if you've heard of them, but I really love mine. If something ever happened to it, I wouldn't think twice about getting a replacement. I can always tell a difference when I'm using mine consistently or not. After I use my clarisonic, I'll then put the same moisturizer on my face that I use in the morning, or if I notice my skin breaking out, I'll use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapfruit.

Weekly

In addition to my daily routine, about once a week I'll try to do a face mask on Saturdays. My favorite brand of face masks lately are the Freeman Feeling Beautiful masks. They have so many different ones to try, and I love that you can buy an entire bottle, or individual samples to see if you like the mask or if it's right for your skin. I also put my face masks on with a brush so that they go on evenly and my hands don't end up as coated as my face. Maybe I'm late to the game with that tip, but it's really helped me out a ton! After I take whatever face mask I'm trying off, I'll wash my face with Ulta's Skinsoak Foaming Cleanser so that my face doesn't feel too dry after.

I hope you all find these tips useful! Let me know your favorite products for your daily routine, I'm always looking for new stuff to try!
